Gingerbread Yogurt Dip

This post is sponsored by Stonyfield Organic. In exchange for this post, I was compensated and provided with the products used to develop my recipe. As always, all content and opinions are my own.

To be honest, the holiday season isn't my favorite time of year.  I do love some parts—putting up my Christmas tree, spending time with friends and family, driving around my neighborhood to look at lights—but it's also a hectic, stressful time, and the deluge of sugary treats makes it hard to stay on track with healthy eating.

There isn't much I can do about the piles of Christmas cookies that appear daily in the office break room, but I can make sure that I have healthy ingredients on hand at home.  Quarts of Stonyfield yogurt are some of my go-to items: I use Smooth & Creamy Fat Free Plain Yogurt to make overnight oats and salad dressing, and 0% Fat Plain Greek Yogurt is perfect for smoothie bowls.  Yogurt is also a great substitute for ingredients like oil, mayonnaise, and sour cream: I've used yogurt to make delicious pancakes, deviled eggs, and onion dip.  I appreciate that Stonyfield's products are organic, which is a simple way to be sure that they're made without toxic persistent pesticides, artificial hormones, antibiotics, and GMOs.  I'm also a fan of the company's values: since 1983, Stonyfield has had a mission to work for a healthy planet, healthy food, and healthy people.

Gingerbread Yogurt Dip

This holiday season, I wanted to develop a wholesome, simple snack recipe that I could make with ingredients I already had in my refrigerator and pantry.  This Gingerbread Yogurt Dip dip uses Stonyfield 0% Fat Plain Greek Yogurt as a base and is flavored with a gingerbread-inspired spice blend of cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, and nutmeg.  I love that it's a way to enjoy my favorite holiday flavors in a more healthful way than eating a plateful of cookies.  The dip tastes delicious with apple slices, or you could try it with pear slices, strawberries, grapes, or mandarin oranges.  As written, this recipe serves one, but it can easily be scaled up to make a bigger batch.

Serves 1

Ingredients:

Gingerbread Yogurt Dip Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Stonyfield 0% Fat Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • pinch allspice
  • pinch cloves
  • pinch nutmeg
  • sprinkles (optional)
  • apple slices, for serving

In a small bowl, combine the yogurt, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, allspice, cloves, and nutmeg and stir until well-mixed.  Top with sprinkles if desired and serve with apple slices.
