Ritter Sport-Summer 2016 Flavors

Ritter Sport Summer 2016 Varieties

My review of the Ritter Sport chocolate flavors available in the U.S. is one of my all-time most popular posts.  I have been a Ritter Sport fan since a college trip to Germany: the brand combines my love for quality chocolate with a compulsive urge to collect the brightly colored packages and admire my personal chocolate rainbow.  On a recent trip to Germany, I scoured every grocery store we came across for Ritter Sport flavors unavailable in the U.S., and I was delighted to discover three seasonal summer flavors.  Like my previous post, the bars are rated as GET IT, YOUR CALL, or SKIP IT.

Although I haven't found these seasonal bars in any U.S. retail stores, they are widely available online.

  • Brombeer Joghurt (blackberry yogurt): milk chocolate filled with blackberry yogurt and crispy rice bits.  The intense blackberry flavor of filling actually overpowers the chocolate in the best possible way.  There's also a refreshing yogurt tang and a lightness from the crispy rice, making this a perfect chocolate bar for summer.  GET IT.
  • Buttermilch Zitrone (buttermilk lemon): white yogurt chocolate with a buttermilk and lemon filling.  Since there isn't any cocoa, this white chocolate is a change of pace from the typical Ritter Sport offering.  But it's perfect for summer, with a creamy citrus tang reminiscent of key lime pie.  GET IT.
  • Eiscafe (iced coffee): milk chocolate with a creamy vanilla and coffee filling.  While the filling is creamier than the regular Ritter Sport espresso bar, this flavor doesn't particularly evoke summer.  Still, it's worth trying if you're a big coffee fan, so this one is YOUR CALL.

Have you tried Ritter Sport's summer flavors?  Any tips on where to find them in the U.S.?

I wasn't compensated for this or any of my other Ritter Sport reviews—I just really like their chocolate!
